Call for Papers – Scientific Track
IEEE technically co-sponsored

Topics of interest
We invite submissions of original research papers related to all areas of Data Science, especially best practice and use-case oriented research work with technical depth and practical applicability. We especially want to solicit work in three key areas in the coming year, namely:

  • Intelligent Data Management
Businesses are asking increasingly complex questions. At the same time distributed data sources, graph databases and knowledge graphs have become ubiquitous. That leads to novel data architectures and open challenges with (semi-) automatic data integration, data cleaning and efficient query processing at scale to enable interactive data exploration.
Moreover, these architectures have to address Data Privacy, GDPR and security.

  • Learning from Little
Many real-world Data Science tasks are faced with the challenge of small datasets and sparsely labeled data. This leads to vastly different approaches than the ones we use with Big Data.

  • Smart Services
Smart Services turn digitalization into business benefits. It combines the intelligent analysis of data with the transformation of user-centered services to provide added value for both service providers and customers. Smart services are not only about technological solutions; there are much broader implications.

Submission

  • Full Paper – present high-quality research contributions, including experiments, analysis, or system papers, as well as descriptions of application results. Each submission can have up to 6 pages incl. references.
  • Short Paper – present late-breaking results, work in progress, follow-up extensions, application case studies, or evaluations of existing methods. Each submission can have up to 2 pages incl. references.

All submissions must be original works that have not been published previously in any conference proceedings, magazine,
journal, or edited book. The review process will be double blind, therefore we ask authors to take specific care to anonymize their submission reasonably. Concurrent submissions are strictly forbidden. Submission of papers implies intention to register and present the related content at the conference. The international Program Committee will carefully review the submissions. Excellent content and presentation as demonstrated in the submission are mandatory for acceptance. Accepted submissions will be presented in English (as a talk or a poster) by the authors at the conference. As last year, proceedings of all papers presented at the conference will be submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore digital library. All submissions must be formatted by following the IEEE 8.5” x 11” two-column format.

Important Dates

  • February 05, 2021: Submission deadline
  • February 12, 2021: Extended Submission deadline
  • March 17, 2021: Acceptance notification
  • March 23, 2021: Acceptance notification
  • May 03, 2021: Camera ready papers deadline
  • June 09, 2021: Conference takes place

Submission

Business Talk – presentation covering technological aspects, deployment and use of solutions in Data Science. Submissions should be in pdf format and have a maximum length of 2 pages and contain all of the following elements:

  • title
  • an extended abstract of no more than 500 words explaining an impactful and novel application with facts and figures
  • a description of the target audience
  • an outline of the intended talk
  • a short author biography

The Business Program Committee will carefully review the submissions. Excellent content demonstrating data-driven value creation, business impact and innovation in the submission are mandatory for acceptance. Accepted submissions will be presented in English by the authors at the conference (20min presentation).
